Lion's Head, which is part of the Table Mountain National Park, is arguably the most summitted peak in the whole of South Africa and it's not hard to see why. She is shapely and enticing in every way and holds the enviable position of being held in a motherly embrace on the front facade of Cape Town's famous Table Mountain, overlooking the city from a lofty setting. Taking only about an hour from the car to her spacious summit at 670 metres above sea level, she offers stupendous 360 degree views over the whole of the city and also the Atlantic Seaboard, Twelve Apostles and the distant peaks of the Hottentots Holland, Jonkers Hoek, Du Toit's Kloof, Winterhoek and Cederberg mountains which stand guard over the district of greater Cape Town. In this paper, photographically illustrated map insets with quality photos show the various walking routes and also a variety of pictures depicting different areas of the mountain. There is also detailed informative text on history, geography, flora, fauna, hiking descriptions, what to take on walks, emergency info and a wealth of other interesting information.
