Reptiles of Namibia is a translation as well as an extension of the German version Reptilien Namibias and is a must for every household and all travellers in Namibia. The author Alfred Schleicher emigrated from Germany to Namibia more than 25 years ago. Since then, the family has been running a full-time travel and photo safari company. The fascinating nature of Africa with its incredible wealth of animals has always captivated the family. From childhood, the author collected knowledge about reptiles in nature with a specific interest in tortoises/turtles. Numerous field observations as well as the successful breeding of endangered native tortoise species led him to compile valuable scientific data and were the impetus for this book. Alfred Schleicher has led the herpetological department of the Namibia Scientific Society for many years.
