About: Africa (Jagdzeit International)

Italian artist Renato Casaro's passion is painting, and his entire life's work is influenced by his search for perfect light. Initially, he was drawn to the limelight. His career began as a movie poster painter. Eventually his work achieved worldwide recognitions, and he received many accolades and awards. Many of his works are now considered collector's items, and are much sought-after by collectors and are even considered by many to be important relicts of film history. In 1985 Casaro was able to make a dream come true: He created his PAINTED MOVIES series, in which he transfers well-known works of art to modern times - such as the famous INVITATION, inspired by da Vinci's LAST SUPPER. In Casaro's interpretation thirteen movie-legends are at the table having supper in Hollywood. Restless and searching for new motifs, Casaro found new light in the African bush and the wide open desert skies of the Middle East. His African wildlife paintings are highly praised. The desert scenes are mysterious and limitless and capture the light to perfection, and are complemented by camels, falcons, Bedouin people, and horses. In his educational trips to those regions he has succumbed to the sublime beauty of the landscapes, the light and the fauna of the wilderness. Immediately upon returning from his adventures he brings his impressions to canvas: living paintings, reflecting his adventures in the same intensity as he experienced them; full of light, full of movement, in apparently empty landscapes, and full of unbelievable sincerity. Asked how he succeeds in bridging the gap between the glitter of Hollywood and the wildness of Africa Casaro replied, "This is not very difficult, you just have to keep your eyes open, everything here and there is spectacular and exciting, with the difference that Hollywood is illusion and Africa the truth. It is the maximum for a painter to mingle the difference into one another".
