In its 90th year of operations, the Namibia Scientific Society has republished Edwin Loeb's In Feudal Africa: History and Traditions of the Kwanyama. This is in line with the long tradition of the Namibia Scientific Society of contributing to scientific enquiry and research, to knowledge production and dissemination. The book was originally published in 1962 by the Indiana University Center in Anthropology, Folklore and Linguistics but has been out of print for many years. It is based on the University of California Africa Expedition of 1947-48, with which Edwin Meyer Loeb spent some months in north central Namibia. The specific focus of members of the Expedition was to conduct ethnographic studies of the Kwanyama community, and they travelled to various different areas interviewing people and recording customs.
