Phillida Brooke Simons (geb. Brooke), wurde am 30.08.1923 geboren. Leider ist uns ihr Geburtsort noch nicht bekannt und auch sonst klaffen in unserer Biographie der bekannten Autorin ortsgeschichtlicher Werke aus dem Raum Südafrikas, ziemliche Lücken. Sie genoß wegen der hohen Qualität ihrer Recherchen einen hervorragenden Ruf unter den Historikerin ihrer Heimat und wird bis heute im Zusammenhang mit Themen der Ortsgeschichte Kapstadts und seiner Region zitiert. Zahlreiche Dokumentationen historischer Gebäude Südafrikas sind ihrer Arbeit zu verdanken. Phillida Brooke Simons, Ehrenmitglied der Historical Society of Cape Town auf Lebenszeit, verstarb 29.07.2013 in Paarl.
