Milton Shain promovierte an der University of Cape Town wo er heute am Department of Historical Studies als Experte für Jüdische Geschichte in Südafrika lehrt und als Direktor des Isaac and Jessie Kaplan Centre for Jewish Studies and Research tätig ist. Milton Shain hat zahlreiche Artikel und Bücher über diesen Themenbereich geschrieben, teils zusammen mit seinem Kollegen, Professor Richard Mendelsohn.
