Alan G. Morris ist gebürtiger Kanadier mit südafrikanischer Staatsbürgerschaft. Er studierte Biologie an der Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario und promovierte an der University of the Witwatersrand in Anatomie. Professor Alan G. Morris lehrt Humanbiologie University of Cape Town und hat weit über die Ursprünge des anatomisch modernen Menschen und humanbiologische Aspekte der Bevölkerung der Steinzeit und Eisenzeit in Malawi, Namibia und Südafrika geforscht und publiziert. In den letzten Jahren erweiterte er seine Forschung in Bereiche der forensischen Anthropologie, wo er neben Kriminalfälle der jüngeren und jüngsten Geschichte Südafrikas, auch die Beteiligung von Kanadiern an den Anglo-Burischen Kriegen und die Geschichte der Physischen Anthropologie in Südafrika untersucht. Alan G. Morris ist Konzilmitglied der Van Riebeeck Society, Mitherausgeber des South African Journal of Science und gewähltes Mitglied der Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAF).
