Namibia against the Rest of the World – those were the two categories in the Ultimate Road Trip Photo Competition run on the Facebook page of the Gondwana Collection Namibia.

More than 700 pictures were entered and 33,342 users from all over the world voted for their favourite. In doing so they shared the competition with their various Facebook friends, according to estimates some 10 million people. A sensational marketing coup for Namibia. Hitradio Namibia’s Wilfried Hähner, one of the partners in the Ultimate Road Trip Competition, was over the moon when the winning pictures were drawn. “Incredible, I never expected such an overwhelming success”, he said. The winning pictures: a ‘gravel track’ to Spitzkoppe basking in the sun by Goretti Jansen and a paved road in Argentina against a panorama of the snow-covered Andes by Uys de Vos. A magnificent contrast of two worlds! The prize for each winner: Business class return flights sponsored by Air Namibia, 14 days car hire sponsored by Caprivi Car Hire and Savanna Car Hire and 14 days accommodation at Gondwana Collection Namibia on a Bed & Breakfast basis.
