Siba Mtongana is a celebrity chef, author, TV show food editor and host, CEO and founder of her company The Siba Co. and a mother of four children. She is popularly known for her cooking show, 'Siba's Table5 on Food Network, which, when it first aired not only cemented Chef Siba's standing as South Africa's premier culinary phenomenon, but catapulted her to the status of a food icon in more than 135 countries, and 60 million homes in the USA through the Cooking Channel alone. With so much under her belt, it is hard to sum up just how many barricades this down-to-earth chef has broken with her humble Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, roots. She holds a degree in Food and Consumer Sciences with majors in Food Sciences and Nutrition, is a former model and magazine food editor, and continues to make every bite she creates with unique, dazzling deftness. Siba has a plethora of awards. She has won five US Film and Television Awards and four awards locally, and has garnered so much recognition internationally and locally. This recognition includes being part of Oprah Winfrey's top 20 power-list of African woman to look out for, while her best-selling cookbook Welcome to My Table scooped two Galliova international awards for its first edition. Siba was handpicked by the South African Presidency to curate and culinary-direct a VIP menu for the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa, cooking for over 70 heads of states, former presidents and VIP guests from around the world.

From the introduction:

[...] As a parent or guardian, your time is always >u will find the following useful as you cook your way through these pages, hopefully with the assistance of your young chefs in the family: I've tried to address the very specific nutritional needs of my young fan base. Methods are often more detailed so the little ones can follow and participate, but I have made sure not to undermine my teenage audience or bore them or the moms, dads or guardians that will be cooking along. Every culinary creation and its presentation are the end product of a carefully considered and curated balancing act. The yield of the recipes is mainly 4+ as I had a standard family in mind here, mainly two kids and two adults. However, feel free to increase or decrease the yield to suit your family. I have simplified the approach in some cases - without compromising on taste or technique, by adding step-by-step images that you will not find in my other cookbooks. My food philosophy is that I cook one meal for the whole family. No one is more pressed for time than us parents and guardians. I have leaned heavily on my background in Food and Consumer Sciences, having obtained a bachelor's degree in such at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in Cape Town in 2006. So, coming back to my earlier point, even my toddler eats the same meal as the rest of the family. My 'one meal for the family' philosophy is built on the following pillars: Each plate, lunchbox or snack must be calorie-moderate, macro-nutrient balanced (more or less in line with recommended daily intakes) and nutritious. A natural consequence of this is that ingredients such as salt and sugar are lessened, and complex carbohydrates used to the extent that they are recipe appropriate and feasible. One example of a decreased sugar recipe, is my granola. Here in Let's Cook, it has less honey than in my other takes on this crunchy staple. [...]
