Rukwangali Orthography 3 / ZoRukwangali Ntjangeso 3, by Curriculum Committees for Rukwangali. The first official guide for Rukwangali Orthography No. 1 was published in 1968.

At the beginning certain shortcomings in the orthography were revealed by practical usage and additional research into the language. It appeared moreover that certain rules could be stated more informally in order to make them more accessible. Therefore in 1974 a Rukwangali Orthography No. 2 was published. The authors tried to expand the rules. They still proved to have/ be the same problems. It was therefore the aim of the revised edition to simplify or even alter certain rules in such a way that they became comprehensive for the average person,  offered a more logical exposition of the material and brought in additional examples which resulted from research work. These rules for the writing of Rukwangali were difficult for people to understand, because all the explanations were in Afrikaans and in English. The users of that booklet thought that it was a terminology list, which was teaching them Afrikaans and English, while it was teaching them the Rukwangali Orthography. The late D Nakare used the Rukwangali Orthography No. 2 to develop a user friendly Rukwangali Orthography which was published in 1996. This version is only in Rukwangali. The author tried by all means to thoroughly explain that any rule of writing Rukwangali to be clear for the user or the user of the booklet. This booklet is not a translation of orthography No, 2, but it was developed in a unique way in order to simplify what was difficult for the people. This version could only be used by people who were well versed in Rukwangali. This led to the Rukwangali Curriculum Committee to embark upon an orthography which will have dual versions. One being in English and the other one in Rukwangali. The Rukwangali version replaced the Afrikaans version and has Rukwangali explanations. A Section on Punctuation Marks have been included in order to enhance the writing of Rukwangali. We trust that this Rukwangali Orthography No. 3 will provide a sound basis upon which the literary development of the language can proceed for many years. The Ministry of Education most sincerely appreciates the work which has been done in this respect in Namibia by NIED and the Rukwangali Curriculum Committee.
