Description:

Immo Böhlke (1932-2010), a well known and acclaimed amateur historian of German origin and citizen of Swakopmund, introduces to the early centuries of Namibia, beginning with the first known Portugese landings under Henry the Navigator on the coast of today's town of Luderitz until to the arrival of Windhoek's founder, the commander of the early German Schutztruppe and German Imperial Commissioner, Curt von François. From old and partly previously unpublished photographs, pictures, documents and maps, the author reconstructs the time between 1450 and 1890. His lively narration takes you on the travels of hunters, traders and explorers and makes the video South West Africa in pre-colonial days a must-see. This DVD is also available in German language.
