About: Western Cape Rock. A guide to sport climbing in the Cape Peninsula, Cape Town Surrounds and Oudtshoorn

This 2024 limited edition of Western Cape Rock is a reprint of the edition dating from 2016, reduced by the Montagu Section and Cederberg Section, wich have their own dedicated guidebooks meanwhile, being Cederberg Rock - A guide to sport climbing in the Cederberg and surrounds and Montagu Rock - A guide to Sport and Trad climbing in and around Montagu. Some of the infrequently used crags in the Karoo and Garden Route areas have been taken out as well. As a interim solution, this edition includes the Cape Peninsula section, the Cape Town and Surrounds section and Oudtshoorn. The information given here is from 2016. Please read the Information pages at the beginning of the climbing guide. This will give you all you need to know with regards to access, ethics, weather, best time to climb in the different areas, what to do on rest days bolting, emergency procedures, etc. It also explains the different symbols, terms and abbreviations used, as well as a grade table. Also included is a Safety at the Crags section.
