In dedicating this book to the soldiers defending our country, the author is involving many South African families. We are an army of the people, for the people of the Republic of South Africa. Throughout history, soldiering has always come naturally to South Africans. In many wars and battles the South African soldier has proved himself to be brave, determined and willing to sacrifice all for the cause. Add to this the qualities of adaptability, innovation and patriotism, and it becomes clear that South African soldiers cannot but continue this fine tradition. The name, "South African Defence Force" describes our aims and intentions. We have no expansionist ambitions, but we will defend our country and all its peoples against any military threat.
