Every effort has been made to make this guidebook as comprehensive as possible and should include all the routes on the Tafelberg and the Spout, but it wouldn't surprise me if a few routes crawl out the woodwork after this guide has been published. Although there is photographic representation of the majority of the walls and crags with most of the routes marked, some of the areas are exceedingly difficult to photograph or just not worth it to show one or two arbitrary climbs. If a route described in the text is not marked on a photograph, then there will be mention of the closest marked route as a starting reference point. Also please note that while great care has been taken to mark the routes on the topo photos there will almost certainly be errors here and there, and this goes for the written descriptions as well. Remember that some of these routes were opened a long, long time ago and practically no one knows the exact line these routes take anymore. Indeed some of these routes were opened in areas where certain pitches may have used bits of other older routes and some routes were described so vaguely in the Mountain Club Journals, that they are all but impossible to find. The descriptions and lines are merely a guide, so when climbing any of the routes you are expected to use your own discretion. You will also find that the majority of the very early routes will be given a general overall description and not a pitch by pitch breakdown. I'm sure this will be adequate as most of them are marked on the photographs and once the start is gained they are quite obvious to follow. Directions are always given as one is facing the mountain unless otherwise stated. All the routes on Tafelberg and Spout are traditional climbs requiring the use of traditional gear. Bolting of any sort is absolutely not allowed and anyone contravening this will be severely dealt with in an African fashion. A star rating is used to indicate the overall quality of the routes, although this can also be subjective to a point. Bear in mind that the climbing at this venue (and anywhere in the Cederberg) is generally of a very high quality and even some of the one or two star routes will be worth doing. [....]
