Description:

In a merciless, desolate furnace in Namibia an unexpected predator survives. Desert lions roam the Namib, but with few adult males remaining, the population is under threat. A coalition of five adolescent brothers holds the key to the future of their kind. Faced with many challenges, from learning to hunt large prey and getting lost in a deadly desert, to being stuck in a raging flash flood, the young males learn to conquer the ancient desert on their epic journey to adulthood. The DVD Vanishing Kings: Lions of the Namib was produced and directed by Will and Lianne Steenkamp. With Dr. Flip Stander who started Namibia’s Desert Lion Conservation Project in 1998, they spent 18 months filming the Vanishing Kings and their pride. Filmed in a cinematic style, the visuals of the film will engross the viewer in an undiscovered world. Combined with advanced aerial filming using both Cineflex and drones the film showcases the contrasting landscapes of the Namib. Experience sand storms, flash floods down dry riverbeds, severe heat and surprising summer blooms.
