Beschreibung:

Warum ist die Farmkarte von Namibia so beliebt, obwohl sie, ob nun gerollt oder gefaltet, eindeutig an der Grenze zum Unhandlichen liegt?

Es ist wohl das Zusammentreffen etlicher sehr interessanter Informationen, die Namibia-Freunde sonst nur auf verschiedenen Kartentypen finden:

1. Die Darstellung der Farmen mit deren Namen oder Nummern und deren Grenzen. Dies gibt sonst nur die Serie der Topographischen Karten von Namibia im Maßstab 1:250.000 her:

• 1:250.000
• 1:500.000

2. Der günstige Maßstab von 1:1.000.000 und die Darstellung auf einer Druckseite ist ein gelungener Kompromiß zwischen dem der Serie der Topographischen Karten von Namibia im Maßstab 1:500.000 und dem verschiedener Reisekarten von 1:1,2 Millionen an aufwärts, die aber beidseitig bedruckt sind und daher keine Gesamtansicht bieten.

3. Die Darstellung der Infrastruktur und des Geländes ist ähnlich wie der der Reisekarten.

4. Die Darstellung von Distrikts- und Verwaltungsgrenzen des Landes.

5. Die Darstellung einiger topographischer Merkmale, wie z.B. von Höhenlinien und Rivieren. Die Farmkarte von Namibia hat ein durchgehendes Kartengitter bei vollen Graden.

What is it that attracts us with the Farm Map of Namibia? It seems to be the junction of interesting map information that usually would have to be gathered from different maps.

1. It displays the farms with their names or number codes and their borders, as it will be found in the Chart of Topographic Maps of Namibia at scale 1:250.000 only:

• 1:250.000
• 1:500.000

2. The scale 1:1.000.000 compromises between the Chart of Topographic Maps of Namibia 1:500.000 and various travel maps of Namibia beginning at scale 1:1.200.000 and being printed two-sided which prevents an overwiew at one glance.

3. Range and infrastructure are shown like as in common travel maps.

4. District boundaries are depicted as it would be expected in a political map of Namibia.

5. Topographic features such as lines of altitude and riviers are shown. The Farm Map of Namibia bears a map grid at full degrees.
